Our Service Model and Philosophy
WLAH believes that the welfare of both our homeless people AND our community are important and compatible priorities.
We feel that leaving homeless people to live on the street in a dysfunctional, unhealthy and vulnerable state is neither compassionate nor effective community policy. There are services and assistance available, but sometimes difficult to access. For those willing to improve their circumstances, we fund case workers that can successfully connect those motivated individuals to services or resources to lift them out of homelessness.
Because of these beliefs, we want our interested community members to understand the range and rationale for our services.
For people in our community experiencing homelessness we will:
Provide outreach and resources to the unhoused to help them move out of homelessness, including weekly mobile showers, new clothes, DMV vouchers, assistance with medical
appointments, and help with documentation.
Work with professional case workers to connect the homeless to housing and other resources.
Conduct monthly clean-ups in collaboration with the unhoused to help keep our streets clean.
Provide a 24-hour telephone line for those seeking assistance.
Collaborate with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and local governments to develop sustainable solutions to homelessness in our community.
